Two teams from Homestead Wakefield Elementary School recently earned top honors in the Maryland Stock Market Game, an educational simulation that teaches students how to manage a virtual investment portfolio of $100,000. This program helps students learn real-world economics, finance, and teamwork through hands-on experience.
One team took First Place in Maryland for the Spring 2025 Elementary Division. Team members Luke, Landon, and Benny demonstrated strong market analysis and decision-making skills. Another team, made up of Oliver, Christopher, Dylan, and Harjiyo, earned First Place in the Northern Region for the 2025 Yearlong Competition.
The teams were supported by teachers, Katie Smith and Dan Bohlman. Through researching companies and tracking market changes, these students developed important skills in math, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Their success reflects dedication and teamwork, making the Stock Market Game more than just a game, it’s a valuable learning experience preparing students for the future.
