Put the screens down, and turn mealtime into real family time.
Our phones and tablets are part of everyday life, but moments of connection still matter. Unplug to Connect is a community-wide campaign inviting families to set devices aside during meals and reconnect through simple conversation. It's a small change that creates more listening, more laughter, and more meaningful moments, starting with just one meal.
How does it work?
Grab your phone.
Scan the QR code on the flyer (below) or table card (at participating restaurants).
Choose a conversation starter.
Set the phone down.
Start talking.
That's it. No apps to download, no schedules to follow. Just a few minutes of undivided attention at the table.
Unplug to Connect is powered by a partnership between Harford County Public Schools, the Harford County Health Department, the Harford County Public Library, the Harford County Sheriff's Office, the City of Havre de Grace, and HighStarr Copy & Print Services. Together, these organizations are working to make device-free mealtimes easy, welcoming, and fun for families across the county.
Children learn their digital habits from the adults around them. When we pause our own devices, even briefly, we send a powerful message: you are important, and this moment matters.
Enjoy the conversation, one meal, one connection at a time.
